Campaigns & Media Advisor Temporary Full Time Position
Our Campaigns and Media Advisor is taking leave from the end of August until around early November. We are therefore seeking to fill this vacancy for this 12 week period.
- Based in either the Palmerston North or Wellington NZNO Office of New Zealand’s largest health sector union.
- Responsible for ensuring effective communications of NZNO’s goals internally (to members) and externally (to the general public) in such a way as to build support for those goals.
- Working with a highly effective team.

Policy Analyst Maori - Wellington
The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) is the largest and most influential professional organisation and union in the health sector with offices throughout the country. Te Runanga o Aotearoa NZNO, comprising Maori membership, is the arm through which our Treaty-based partnership is articulated.
The successful candidate will have
• An excellent understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and its principles
• A good understanding of tikanga Maori
• A good understanding of issues affecting Maori in society and the workplace in particular
• A good understanding of issues affecting women in the workplace
• An understanding of health and nursing issues
• Ability in synthesizing information and preparing documents
• An understanding of legal principles and legislation relevant to the business of NZNO
• Computer competence in search engines, word and excel
Key Performance Objectives
1. Provide ongoing analysis of the social and political environment from a Maori perspective as it relates to the strategic aims of NZNO and Te Runanga.
2. Maintain effective relations with external stakeholders
3. Promote NZNO’s and Te Runanga’s strategic plans through action on external and internal policy
4. Assist in the maintenance of effective communication systems whereby organisational knowledge of essential policy development is kept up to date and staff and member input to policy development is achieved
5. Provide professional expertise in policy matters to staff and members of NZNO
6. Provide support and advice to the Chief Executive and staff in their interface with NZNO membership structures and consistency with tikanga Maori.
