Safe Staffing

Latest News

May 26, 2008 Update:  Safe Staffing is all about Getting it RIGHT Now! This is what our campaign will be about: Getting the right nurses and midwives with the right competencies delivering the right care in the right place at the right time. The first flyer was handed out at the Safe Staffing Symposium. A new webpage is being developed and will soon be the central source of information relating to Safe Staffing for all sectors.

March 13, 2008 Update:  Places are still available at the NZNO Safe Staffing Symposium to be held in Wellington on International Nurses Day.

Report of the Safe Staffing/ Healthy Workplaces Committee of Inquiry

The Safe Staffing Health Workplaces Committee of Inquiry released its completed report and recommendations on Friday 9 June. The Committee was set up as part of the NZNO / DHB MECA settlement last year in response to NZNO concerns about nursing workloads.

DHB CEOs and NZNO members employed in DHBs will have an opportunity to endorse the reports recommendations at membership meetings being held during late June and early July. See meeting schedule here.

Following this process, the report will be launched formally.

Limited printed copies have been circulated to the DHB National Committee of Workplace Delegates and other workplace representatives.
