Nursing Overseas

This information is intended to help nurses leaving New Zealand for work overseas.  It provides contact addresses for gaining registration in Australia, England, USA & Canada,  plus some contacts for work in various other countries. 

NZNO does not hold registration forms etc, as countries change their requirements regularly making it difficult to keep such information current. We encourage members to go to the source for up to date information.

Many nurses use agencies to obtain help in registration and finding work.  You will find current operating agencies in the yellow pages and nursing journals.  The New Zealand Nurses Organisation does not endorse or recommend any particular agency.

Word of mouth references and personal experiences from your nursing colleagues and nursing contacts is the best way to check out an agency - so ask around!

Always have contracts checked with a lawyer - you should be given time by the agency to do this.  NZNO would be suspicious of an agency that did not allow you to do this, or did not give you any thinking time.
