Student Membership
A student membership package is available to:
- Undergraduate students of nursing and midwifery
- Unwaged new graduates
- Those retired from nursing but wishing to retain full membership
As a student member of NZNO you can access these services, representing great value for money:
- National Student Unit
Offers support for students and opportunities to voice your concerns to NZNO, nursing school heads and government.
- Te Runanga o Aotearoa
An opportunity for Maori students to speak and be heard within a Maori forum.
- Indemnity Insurance
With NZNO membership you receive independent professional indemnity insurance, giving you comprehensive cover defending claims made against you during your practical work assignments and part-time nursing work/holiday jobs.
- Scholarships and Grants
A variety of Nursing Scholarships and grants are provided through NZNO and the Nursing Education and Research Foundation (NERF), some of which are especially for nursing students.
- Up to date Information
Student members are entitled to use NZNO's library, can receive their own copies of Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand (for an additional fee) and access a wide range of newsletters and publications.
- Advocacy and Support
In addition to the support and advice available from NZNO staff, each nursing school should have a local student representative.
What does it cost to join?
As a student member you will be covered even while working part-time as a caregiver or health assistant etc.
