Professional Advice and Services

NZNO employs six professional nurse advisors located in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland who provide professional advice and services to NZNO members and staff.

The professional nurse advisors (PNAs) work with the legal officers, educators and organisers and administrative staff to fulfill the NZNO mission of representing members and contributing to health and social policy development.

NZNO provides the following professional services to our members:

• Nursing Midwifery Advisory Committee (NMAC)
  A standing committee of the NZNO. It has 10 members who are elected biennially. The committee focuses on professional nursing and midwifery issues.
• Special interest nursing sections and colleges
  Including the College of Practice Nurses, NZNO Respiratory Nurses Section etc
• Professional forums and education seminars
• Professional indemnity support and representation
• Advice on practice, legal and ethical concerns
• Development of practice guidelines and standards
• Professional Development and Recognition Programmes (PDRP)
• Policy analysis
• Professional Nursing Advisors
• Submissions and development of policy
• Credentialling of Nurses through accreditation processes
• Library resources and information in conjunction with the Library service
• Leaflets and written materials for distribution
