Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP)
A primary health care (PHC) professional development and career framework was first investigated by the NZNO PHC Nurses Expert Advisory Panel. The NZNO PHC Nurses Advisory Council’s strategic plan identified a need for the development of a PHC Nurses professional development and recognition programme (PDPR) and this has been the main focus of the council’s work for 2005. The final document reflects the results of a series of three consultative opportunities and multiple individual meetings and discussions with nurses in primary health care.
The NZNO PHC Nursing PDRP document is for registered nurses and it is the intention of the council to proceed to the development of the requirements for enrolled nurses in 2006.
Along with the PDRP document there are also three separate appraisal tools (one for each level i.e. competent, proficient & expert).
NZNO members are able to download these documents from the member-only NZNO webpage. Hard copies will also be available for a cost of $8.00 for members and $16.00 for non-members from NZNO Publications – publications@nzno.org.nz.
