About Us
Background
The New Zealand Flight Nurses Association began in May 1996 when an Auckland Intensive Care Nurse/Flight Nurse recognised the need for standardisation, education and training of flight nurse practices within the New Zealand aeromedical environment.
A steering group was formed and in May 1997, the first National Committee was elected. There are now over 300 nurses within many specialist areas (adult, paediatric & neonatal intensive care, cardiac and emergency care) represented in the section. These nurses transfer patients both nationally and internationally.
