Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Bill
The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) welcomes the opportunity to presents its submission on the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Bill. The regulatory act governing nurses’ practice and education is the single most important piece of legislation to nurses, and for the NZNO. When enacted it will govern 73,000 health professionals - 47,000 of whom are nurses with an annual practising certificate (APC). The majority of these are NZNO members. Given nurses are the major group covered by this legislation it must be relevant and workable for nurses.
