The New Zealand Nurses Organisation is working towards a true bicultural partnership, guided in this process by Te Runanga o Aotearoa. This will ensure that Māori members have a voice in the formation of NZNO’s policy at all levels.

Te Runanga o Aotearoa
Is our Māori membership who lead the organisation in the development and implementation of issues Māori to reflect NZNO’s bicultural partnership in accordance with our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This group determines its own procedures and structures.
NZNO Relationship Diagram
The following diagram was adoped in 2008 to depict the relationships within NZNO.

The members are our foundation upon which everything else is built.

Our ancestors, tupuna and kaumatua are our central pou - they hold the knowledge of where we have come from and teach us so that we may move forward.

Te Runanga National Executive Komiti and the Board of Directors represent the over arching leadership and umbrella or korowai. Staff are also integrated here as they overarch and interrelate within all aspects of the organisation.

The structures of the house are all dependent on one another to stand as a complete unit.
