Centennial Publication
NZNO has commissioned a centennial publication outlining its history over the past 10 decades. Mary Ellen O’Connor is the writer of this publication.
Mary Ellen was previously involved in polytechnic education, where she played an active part in union affairs, including participation on the national executive of the tertiary teachers union.
She has written several books, and articles for a variety of publications. Mary Ellen believes that documenting the history of the largest women’s professional association and union in New Zealand over a very turbulent century is a great opportunity.She hopes it will provide a valuable lens for both the organisation itself and wider readership.
The book will be launched as part of Matariki celebrations on June 17th 2010 at Pipitea Marae in Wellington. Planning has commence for this launch (January 2010), and updates will be added in late February. For further information contact Charlotte Thompson (charlottet@nzno.org.nz).
