The Nursing and Midwifery Advisory Committee (NMAC) advises, informs and makes recommendations to the New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) Board of Directors.
Members are nurses and midwives elected by the members of NZNO. NMAC's scope is specific social, cultural, economic, industrial and political issues as they impact on health, professional nursing and midwifery practice.
NMAC:

is proactive in raising issues that effect standards of professionalism in nursing and midwifery and bring these to the NZNO Board of Directors.

ensures that views of NZNO members are considered on social, cultural, economic, industrial and political platforms related to health, nursing and midwifery professional practice, services, employment, research and education as directed by the Board of Directors.

ensures that policies, position statements and advice of NMAC are based on current research and contemporary practice.

administers the Florence Nightingale Memorial Fund.
