The specific function of the District Nurses Section is to:
- Provide nursing leadership and strategic direction
- Develop and maintain professional standards
- Participate in and facilitate the direction of ongoing training and education
- Promote the value of District Nursing and of District Nurses
- Represent the speciality if District Nursing nationally and internationally
- Promote a professional support network
