Mission Statement
The Mental Health Nurses Section is a specialty professional section of NZNO dedicated to the provision of leadership, education and professional development of mental health nursing in New Zealand/Aotearoa.
Vision Statement
To bring mental health nurses together in their diversity to positively influence policy and practice for the development of consumer centered care in New Zealand/Aotearoa.

Objectives
- To be the recognised professional organisation of Mental Health nurses in New Zealand.
- To recruit nurses practicing, identifying with, and/or interested in Mental Health care to belong to the Mental Health Nurses Section.
- To practice in accordance with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- To provide a communications network for all members including regular newsletters, conferences and disseminating information on issues pertaining to Mental Health nursing.
- To liaise with appropriate authorities on social and health issues relevant to Mental Health nursing and community health.
- To encourage, promote and provide the development of educational programmes / seminars for Mental Health nurses and those interested in Mental Health Care.
- To encourage and support research into Mental Heath nursing.
- To actively facilitate the ongoing strategic and professional development of Mental Health nursing in conjunction with NZNO and appropriate health authorities.
- To communicate and liaise with other Mental Health organisations at a national and international level.
