NZNO Nurse Practitioner Mentor System

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) is a member of the Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee of New Zealand (NPAC-NZ).

NPAC-NZ requested that its four constituent organisations establish mentor support systems to assist aspiring Nurse Practitioners with preparation for the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) Nurse Practitioner endorsement process.

In 2003 and 2006 NZNO members attended training days facilitated by NPAC-NZ and NCNZ.

In 2009 this training was extended to members of other national nursing organisations, and further training days were facilitated by NPAC-NZ and the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ).

The following document is the guideline for mentors and mentorees:

Please note: Some mentors who trained before 2009 will only assess portfolios that have already reached a completed draft stage, whereas some mentors will assist prior to portfolio completion.
