2017 Young Nurse of the Year nominations close on Friday 14 July
Award of Honour - Criteria
The nominee must be a current financial member of NZNO who has:
- Made a noteworthy contribution to the New Zealand Nurses Organisation professionally and/or industrially, at a workplace, local regional and/or national level
- Promoted the work of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation in a significant manner
- A personal, positive impact on the nursing profession in New Zealand
- Made a substantial and innovative contribution to health care in New Zealand
- Participated on activities at a national or international level which increase the status and public recognition of the nursing profession in New Zealand.

Service to NZNO - Criteria
This award enables NZNO to acknowledge the contribution of individual members to the work of the Organisation at a national level.
The nominee must be an NZNO member who has a commitment to NZNO and who has made a superior contribution to the national or regional work of NZNO. Contribution could be made in any area of NZNO activities at a national or regional level.
- Promotion of NZNO to nurses or outside groups
- National or regional committee work
- Performed additional work for the committee
- Advanced NZNO objectives or policies.

Service to Nursing/Midwifery - Criteria
This award enables the profession to recognise nurses or midwives at a national level who have made a difference to:
- Nursing or midwifery practice
- The practice environment of nurses or midwives.
The nominee must be an NZNO member whose actions have:
- Made a difference to nursing or midwifery care in the region (may be in the area of practice, education, management of nursing/midwifery, research or support area such as QA, infection control, staff development), or
- Improved the occupational health, welfare or practice environment of nurses or midwives in New Zealand.

This award recognises and celebrates young nurses who:
- show compassion or courage beyond what is expected in their role as a nurse;
- have improved care or health outcomes for their patients through their commitment to care, leadership, quality initiative or research; and
- may have overcome major challenges to deliver exceptional care.
