The New Zealand Nurses Organisation made a submission to the Education and Workforce Committee.

Te Rūnanga o Aotearoa, NZNO contributed to the Aotearoa New Zealand collective shadow report on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) to the United Nations Human Rights Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.  This report highlighted current issues of pay parity for Māori nurses and Māori health workforce retention and recruitment issues. 

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation provided further feedback on the Medical Sciences Council's consultation document : Examination Policy and Guidelines - a plan to introudce an online examination for the registration of overseas-trained practitioners, including anaesthetic technicians. 

Fruther feedback was provided on the proposed expansion of the AT scope of practice.

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation made a submission regarding proposed amendments to to the steam sterilising protocols and testing standards in AS/NZS 4187 Reprocessing Reusable Medical Devices in Health Service Organizations.

Intervention to the 16^th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous issues, New York  on the following issues:

• Retention and recruitment of Māori nurses is vital for the future health and wellbeing of our whānau, hapū and iwi. Action is required, to develop a Māori nursing workforce strategy with further investment, resourcing and vision to achieve this goal.
• It is essential that global health and wellbeing must include indigenous voices at the highest decision making level of health.
• We acknowledge that ILO 169 is an important document and support a resolution by this forum for ratification.
• We also agree, that the UN develop an independent monitoring body for the implementation of the declaration

We support a representative group of the national Human Rights institutions be given a mandated seat and speaking rights at the New York United Nations
