Education
The Knowledge and Skills framework for registered nurses has reached final draft stage and has been signed off at the Biennial General Meeting. This is a significant piece of work towards college status for the Gerontology Section. The next stage of development is to think about how this framework applies to all nurses that sometimes work with older adults. And the additional knowledge and skills needed by advanced gerontology nurses.
Knowledge and Skills Framework
These Care Guides provide a quick reference for 18 common conditions encountered when caring for older people in residential aged care. They are based on the best available evidence and published guidelines. They do not replace sound clinical judgement.
The guides were produced by Waitemata DHB in collaboration with Residential Aged Care clinical and managerial staff. The Gerontology Section is now distributing the guides. The cost is $25, which includes postage and packing.
To request a copy please contact the Secretary at nznogerontology@gmail.com
