UPCOMING CONFERENCES AND WEBINARS
Webinar: MEASLES
Date: Thursday 11 June 2026
Time: 7.00pm - 8.00pm
Note that registration is required
Presenter:
Dr Ekta Escovar, Paediatric Consultant, Southland Hospital, Invercargill
This webinar will provide a focused overview of:
- Measles recognition, triage, and prevention. Participants will revisit the basics of immunisation and the epidemiology of measles, including why outbreaks continue to occur when vaccination coverage declines.
- The session will examine the course of illness, highlighting key presenting signs and symptoms and when clinicians should consider measles at triage. As the most contagious disease currently known, measles can spread rapidly through an ED if not recognised promptly. The importance of immediate isolation, including placement in a negative pressure room, will be discussed alongside potential complications and practical prevention strategies to protect patients, whanau, and healthcare staff.

CENNZ STUDY DAYS
AENN Study Day
22 May 2026, 8.00am - 3.00pm
Tauranga Hospital Education Centre
891 Cameron Road
Gate Pa
Theme: Above the Shoulders
Tauranga Hospital Emergency Department is hosting a practical, evidence-based study day for Advanced Emergency Nurses, focusing on “above the shoulders” presentations. The programme covers key areas such as eye, ENT conditions and facial injuries delivered through expert teaching, case discussions, and hands-on skill development. It’s a great opportunity to strengthen clinical confidence and connect with ED colleagues from across the region.
Located in the heart of the Bay of Plenty, Tauranga offers a relaxed coastal setting that makes learning feel a little lighter. The hospital sits close to the harbour, with Mauao / Mount Maunganui and its well-loved beaches only a short drive away. With good coffee, local eateries, and easy outdoor spaces nearby, it’s an ideal spot for both professional development and informal networking throughout the day.
Join us for a well-paced, practical study day that blends upskilling with time to share experiences, build relationships, and strengthen our ED community across Aotearoa.
