Nursing research funding round opens 21 September

September 2026 

The next round of nursing education and research scholarships will open on Monday 21 September 2026.

These opportunities support nurses and nursing students to pursue research and further their education, helping to build nursing knowledge, strengthen practice and develop the capability that will shape the future of nursing in Aotearoa.

The funding available in this round includes:

  • Undergraduate Study Scholarship
  • Postgraduate Study Scholarship
  • Dr Jane Nugent Pharmacology Study Scholarship

Applications will open on Monday 21 September 2026 and close at 5pm on Thursday 22 October 2026.

The Nursing Education and Research Foundation (NERF) supports nurses, midwives, kaiāwhina, caregivers and students of nursing and midwifery across Aotearoa New Zealand through scholarships, grants and research funding.

NERF remains committed to supporting nursing education, research and professional development, and to ensuring funding continues to benefit the sector over the long term.
