If you enjoy outdoor activities or just want to get away from it all the Sounds Cottage offers an affordable opportunity to recharge and relax in peaceful surroundings.
Sounds Cottage is a typical Kiwi bach. Nestled in remote Opua Bay in the Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough, it has three bedrooms. Two rooms hold double bunks and the third a queen-sized bed. The section is flat and can be used for pitching tents.
- This location is only accessible by water.
- Members are welcome to use their own boat or engage a water taxi service is from Picton.
- Due to storm damage and active logging in the Queen Charlotte Forest there is no road access.

Sounds Cottage booking calendar
Before you fill in the booking request form, please check the calendar to see if your preferred dates are available. If:

Rental rates
- Base rental is $60 per night
- Add $30 per night for each adult
- Children under 16 stay free.
Book your dates
To request your Cottage stay dates please complete the Sounds Cottage Booking Request Form and email it to soundscottage@nzno.org.nz.
Please note:
- You need to pay a 50% deposit at the time you send your booking request form.
- Account details for payment are on the booking request form.
- Your booking can only be confirmed when your deposit has been received by NZNO.
- The balance of your payment must be received by NZNO before your first night's stay.
