The New Zealand Nurses Organisation has developed a professional development tool that encourages nurses and midwives to reflect on their practice and professional development.
It is available in both ringbinder (hard copy) and CD-ROM format. Some templates have also been developed to assist you with this process.
Aim of the portfolio
To assist nurses and midwives to produce their own professional portfolio for:
- Accreditation and certification applications
- Clinical career pathway applications, and
- Competence-based practising certificates
- Reflect on their practice
- Identify their strengths, weaknesses and role expectations
Content of the portfolio
Consists of 10 sections which include:
- Job descriptions
- Employment records
- Professional goals and actions
- Continuing education and learning experiences
- Consumer feedback
- Teaching and publications
- Research and projects
- Professional/clinical supervision
- Exemplar writing
