Diana Grant-Mackie Scholarship for Māori Undergraduate Nursing Students - Closed

This scholarship is available to first, second and third year Nursing students who identify as Māori.

Two scholarships are available per semester, one each for:

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Enrolled Nursing student.

Please note:

  • Individual applicants will only be eligible for one Nursing Education and Research Foundation (NERF) grant per calendar year (with the exception of the Emergency Grant)
  • Priority will be given to applicants who have not received a grant in the previous two years from any source
  • Applications are judged based on the merit of the application and grants are awarded at the discretion of the NERF Board of Trustees.

NERF Grants Assessment Committee

Please note that the NERF Grants Assessment Committee requires you to answer all questions in full, to help them fairly distribute the monies available.

Applications are assessed by members of the NERF Grants Assessment Committee, a sub-committee of the NERF Board.  The Committee includes at least two NZNO representatives, usually the Kaiwhakahaere and President, a Māori nurse nominated by Te Rūnanga and the Māori Adviser for Te Rōpū Kaiarahi o Te Rūnanga.  The Nursing Policy Adviser/Research also sits on this Committee as a non-voting member.

You will be notified of the outcome of your application in the week following the Grants Assessment Committee meeting.  If you are successful, you will need to supply your bank account number.

The decision of the Committee is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  1. Your NZNO membership number
  2. Your Student ID number
Documents (up to 4MB each file)
  1. Your whakapapa
  2. A scanned copy of your student ID
  3. Evidence of enrollment in your course of study
  4. Your academic transcript (if applicable)
  5. Document(s) relating to other assistance or income you are receiving at present
  6. A reference letter from your referee.
Written answers (up to 500 words each) to the following questions.
  • Tell us about yourself. Where were you born? Where did you grow up? What are your interests and passions?
  • Who or what inspired you to become a nurse? Tell us your story.
  • What do you aspire to achieve as a Māori nurse?

When you have gathered all these things together you are ready to complete the form below.
