What do we know about the Expressions of Interest (EOI), Business cases (BC) for Better Sooner More Convenient Healthcare?

In September 2009, the Ministry of Health called for expressions of interest (EOI) from primary health care providers ready and able to deliver large scale changes to the way they deliver health care. The Ministry received more than 70 EOIs.

In December 2009, the Minister of Health announced that nine proposals had moved to the next stage which included the development of Integrated Family Health Centres (IFHCs), more nurse-led services including a greater role for nurse practitioners, the development of more multi-disciplinary teams and greater cooperation with hospitals.

Successful proposers were given to February 2010 to develop their BC, prior to progressing to the implementation phase.

The March 2011 Ministry of Health update, indicated that progress across the nine BSMC health alliances was variable, reflecting both the scope of the business cases as well as the complexity of the alliances relationships required.
